CBD or cannabidiol, an active cannabinoid from hemp, is a popular food supplement and has been considered a great holistic treatment for many, many years. When you use CBD, it is best to find a product that can easily be incorporated into your individual lifestyle and one that doesn't interfere with any daily routines.
For lots of people, this is where CBD tea comes in. It has been an integral part of many cultures for hundreds if not thousands of years and now you can enjoy a delicious, satisfying hot drink with the added benefits of CBD at a time that suits you.
Here we are going to investigate and break down the benefits of CBD tea; we will look at why people drink it and also how to make it. Perfect to energise your mornings or to relax in the evenings, get in touch if you have any questions about our tea range or any of the products in our CBD store.
What is CBD tea?
CBD tea is a brewable CBD product that can be enjoyed in exactly the same way as a usual tea. It hosts the same properties as other CBD products with the added benefit of being the enjoyable tea of your choice. It takes very little preparation and can be enjoyed at any point in the day - ideal for anyone who's busy.
Often, the tea bags contain a specified amount of CBD and come in a variety of flavours or styles. It is possible to find hemp flower tea, CBD infused tea and even additives to simply add to your usual brew.
CBD flower tea or ‘herbs’ are hemp flowers prepared in tea bags that can be brewed in exactly the same way another tea bag is brewed. There is no longer a need to hold oil under your tongue; taking CBD can be as simple as drinking a hot cup of tea.
The benefits of CBD tea
What can be said about CBD is that it truly is a remarkable product with a great reputation for relieving symptoms of various conditions and ailments.
CBD has been reported to provide relief from conditions such as (but not limited to):
- Anxiety or stress disorders
- Arthritis
- Chronic pain conditions
- Acne
- Insomnia
As well as providing a sense of relaxation or calm for the individual.
Easy to add to a daily routine
CBD products are widely used and, being available as tea, makes it more accessible to those who are less comfortable or familiar with things like tinctures or vape liquid.
Tea is not only a pleasure but, for most of us, is already a part of our daily routine, therefore making it easier to get our CBD with almost no alteration to our already busy schedule.
Simple to prepare
Tea alone is an almost ceremonial experience enjoyed by so many. Now you can enjoy your hot drink with the added benefits of CBD without having to use a CBD vape or having to hold a CBD oil under your tongue.
These methods, whilst popular and effective, aren’t for everyone. If you’re looking for something more simple, adding drops of a high quality CBD addictive to the tea you already love is a fantastic way to go. Or, going one step further, buying CBD tea bags that only need hot water added to them.
Delicious flavours
CBD tea bags come in a variety of flavours to suit individual tastes, including breakfast tea and fruit flavoured teas. You can of course also add flavourless additives to your favourite teas, meaning either way you will be able to enjoy your hot drink whilst you also get your dose of CBD.
Great flexibility
CBD tea is the perfect way to start our day, enjoy an afternoon break and even unwind in the evening; there is no specific time to take CBD tea. Enjoy your CBD cuppa as you would with a regular tea and when you reach the desired effects of CBD, simply switch out for your regular brew.
How does it work?
The CBD in the tea will interact with the endocannabinoid system found in our peripheral and central nervous systems, as well as in our brain and throughout our bodies.
It is the interaction of the CBD with these receptors (CB1 and CB2) that trigger the relaxing effects and also provides the anti-inflammatory benefits and many other forms of relief from unwanted symptoms.
Read our guide on the endocannabinoid system for more information.
How often should you drink CBD tea?
CBD tea can be consumed regularly, or scarcely; consumption quantity is all dependent on the effects you desire. For a lot of people, tea drinking is a ritual or social process so using a CBD tea is an easy and discreet way to get the CBD you require.
As with any CBD or supplement product, it is important to remember to not exceed the daily recommended dosage. Most products come with a recommended daily dosage and preparation instructions.
Try starting with a low dose and top up until you reach your desired effects. By doing this you can get the most out of your favourite CBD products and benefit more significantly from the effects of CBD tea.
The best CBD tea to try
The best CBD teas on the market are lab tested, high quality products produced and distributed by reputable brands. When choosing a CBD product, it is advised to find one that matches our needs best. For example, if we suffer from a chronic pain condition and need constant relief then a high mg full spectrum product would be superior to a low mg isolate.
Many strengths and flavours are on the market so it is easy to find a product that meets your tea requirements as well as your CBD ones! CBD tea is much the same in that it comes in a variety of strengths and flavours to pick from.
CBD is about experimentation and it is worth trying a few types at various times in the day. For some of us, it might be more beneficial to start the day with a CBD infused sencha green tea and, for others, to finish the day off with some CBD hemp flower tea; the choice is ours.
Always be sure to read the guidelines on each individual product and do not exceed the recommended daily dosage.

Making or brewing CBD tea is like brewing any other tea, which is part of the reason why it is so popular - it’s quick and easy.
It is as simple as putting your chosen tea bag in your favourite mug, teacup or pot and allowing it to brew for the recommended time. Once brewed sit back and enjoy the flavour and effects from your selected brew.
Start your day with a sencha green or finish your night off with a detox and relax, the choice is truly yours. Each tea comes with its recommended daily dosage so be sure to read the label and pick a tea that suits you.
Can I put CBD oil in tea?
CBD oral oil generally is meant to be taken sublingually (this means by absorbing under your tongue) and if dropped into a liquid will not dissolve. There are some CBD drinks on the market and water soluble oils are also available as well as sachets and additives, but generally CBD oil doesn’t go into tea.
The CBD teas available are already infused or are cannabis plant matter containing CBD. Most oils are extracted via complex scientific methods and generally don't mix with water unless they have been designed to do so. Always double check you are purchasing the right CBD oil if this is your preferred method of making CBD tea.
